Sania didn't make to Rogers Cup
[Tue Aug 18, 2009]The tennis ace of India, Sania Mirza could not enter to the main draw of USD 2 million WTA event, Roger Cup. Ranked 74th in world, Sania went down to a wild card entree Heidi El Tabakh in Toronto on Sunday.
It was the final qualification round for the event, where Sania defeated by her opponent in three sets 1-6 6-3 3-6. The first set was in credit to Heidi, who broke Sania twice in the first set. In the second set Sania made a come back, breaking Heidi thrice and saving three breakpoints. But later for the third set she failed to continue with the same pace and lost to the 194th ranked Heidi.
The qualification round was of two rounds. Earlier for the first qualifying round, Heidi dismissed another higher ranked player Anastasia Avlyuchenkova of 35 ranking. For doubles event, the Indian is paired up with Francesca Schiavone of Italy. They will take on to Alla Kudryavtseva of Russia and Akgul Amanmuradova of Uzbekistan for the first round.
