Sania Mirza crashes out of US Open doubles
[Mon Sep , 01:06:29]Sania Mirza's campaign at the ongoing US Open ends as she crashes out from women's doubles and mixed doubles event also. Sania has already out from the singles event losing to World No. 10 Flavia Pennetta of Italy in second round. For doubles also, Sania made to the second round only.
Gisela Dulko and Shahar Peer defeated the Indo-Italian pair of Sania Mirza and Francesca Schiavone in three sets 6-2, 1-6, 7-5 in their second round encounter. However in mixed doubles, Sania paired with Daniel Nestor of Canada went down to American pair Carly Gullickson and Travis Parrott in two straight sets 6-1, 6-4.
Although Sania is out from US Open, the other Indians present at the tournament. Maintaining their consistent performances at the Grand Slams, Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi reached to quarter-finals of the mixed doubles event with their respective partners.
Also seeded top for juniors title, Yuki Bhambri is entered to second round of Junior Boys' Singles event defeating local player Jordan Cox in two sets 6-2 6-1. Yuki has earlier won Australian Open Junior Boys' Singles title.
