Sania to meet Rezai for opening round of Aus Open
[Sun Jan 17, 2010]Indian tennis hope at season's first Grand Slam- Australian Open, Sania Mirza is headed to play the world no. 27 Frenchwoman Aravane Rezai in the first round of singles event. Sania is currently ranked at 56th position. It is third meet of Mirza and Rezai and they hold a record of 1-1. Last time Rezai own over Sania at Madrid event last year. However, Sania defeated the French in their first meet in Kolkata in 2006.
For doubles, Sania is paired up with new partner Virginia Ruano Pascual of Spain.
The other Indians present at the event chasing for the titles are the veteran players Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi. Leander is paired up with Czech Lukas Dlouhy, while Bhupathi will play along with one-time partner Max Mirnyi of Belarus. Paes-Dlouhy had some good winning records as they reached finals at the Brisbane event. Meanwhile, Bhupathi won Grand Slam title along with Mirnyi at US Open in 2002.
